The previous episode, When Will We Ever Learn?, lifts our hero and heroine to the next level of the faith partnership. While Leslie was speaking the specifications of her home computer demands, the phone was ringing with Olivia trying to deliver it. Leslie experienced the miracle that she needed to ready her for this episode. We will see what she meant in Trusting God’s Invisible Hand, “God has asked us to do what we never wanted to do. He asked us to go where we never wanted to go. And eventually He asked us to, in effect, close our eyes, and jump off the cliff into his invisible hand.”
Back to the Cliff raises the stakes in the cost of obedience. David and Leslie are initially lulled into a window of self sufficiency. Just as they know what it is to be comfortable again, God offers a cliff. Even the children count the cost of David’s obedience. Bethany and Jesse ultimately join their mother in her testimony, “Once I heard of you, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.”
