David Alan Carmichael and Leslie Young Carmichael share their decades-long trek of testing, trial, tragedy and triumph in this epic series of real-life experiences.
Leslie wrote this episode, Trusting God’s Invisible Hand, as the foreword to Faith: The Final Frontier without having read David’s manuscript. She did it in one sitting, with no proof-reading or second-glance editing. With some sense of regret in her own mind, Leslie said, “I know I’m the bad guy, and I want to have my say before anybody reads it.” She briskly pulled out a piano bench; with the speed of a transcriptionist, efficiently typed out her only draft; and selected “save.” She rose abruptly, ejected the memory disk, handed it to David, and told him to make sure that it went into the front of the book.
Being the one whose actions put their family in seeming peril, David was inspired to give an account of their arduous but glorious experiences. Their stories will inspire the readers to seek God and His guidance, and to obey Him to His glory.
